The second selection tour of the III Republican contest “Erudite-2011” has been completed.

The Republican contest “Erudite-2011” is aimed at the identification of general knowledge of students of the RT schools, the competence degree, professional qualifications such as quickness, inventiveness and communication skills.

The “Erudite” contest’s tasks are as follows: search and support of creative and intellectual gifted children, stimulation of the research and cognitive activities of students, development of interest in science and the need to increase and improve the knowledge and etc.

The contest organizers are: the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan, Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University, Academic Lyceum named by Lobachevskiy N.I. and CJSC “Innovative Technology Park “Idea”.

The first selection tour of the contest, which was held on April 3, involved 380 students of 173 schools from 25 districts of the Republic of Tatarstan. Under the terms of the first tour, students, divided into two age groups (7-9th and 10-11thgrades), should had answered 100 questions in 10 subjects in 100 minutes.

Based on the results of the first tour, the jury of the heads of institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, has decided to admit 230 participants that responded to more than 50 percent of the selection tour questions to the second selection tour.

In the second tour the contestants have been suggested to answer 5 questions prepared by the Members of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan. Knowledge, intelligence and logical thinking are highly appreciated in this tour. 

The winners of the III Republican contest “Erudite-2011” became the students who got maximum number of scores on the results of two tours:

The following students got the title of “Young Academician”:

  • Georgiy Rizayev – student of the 9th grade of Lyceum No. 35 of Nizhnekamsk city.

  • Denis Trofimov – student of the 11th grade of Lyceum No. 35 of Nizhnekamsk city.

The following students were the laureates of the contest:

  • Igor Chaika – student of the 9th grade of Secondary School No.83 of the Volga district of Kazan city

  • Egor Larichkin – student of the 7th grade of Lyceum No. 35 of Nizhnekamsk city

  • Denis Detistov - student of the 10th grade of Secondary School No.7 of Almetyevsk city

  • Elmira Yunusova - student of the 10th grade of Municipal Autonomous General Educational Institution “Gymnasium - boarding school No.4” of Kazan city

The following students were awarded the honorary certificate of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan and special prizes for active participation and achievement of high results:

  • Almaz Khabibrahmanov – student of the 8th grade of Municipal Budgetary Educational Institution “Secondary School No.2 named by Bulatov A.M.” of Kukmor district of the Republic of Tatarstan

  • Alexander Rodov – student of the 9th grade of Lyceum No.83 of the Volga district of Kazan city

  • Aynur Zamanov - student of the 10th grade of Gymnasium No.54 of Naberezhnye Chelny city

  • Anton Terentyev – student of the 7th grade of Lyceum No. 1 of Zelenodolsk city

This year Technopark “Idea” has introduced a new category “Nano IQ” to the contest “Erudite-2011”. Students were asked to answer 20 test questions related to nanoscience and nanotechnology considering the participants’ age factor. In this category, the evaluation criteria were both: knowledge and intelligence, and the ability to think logically and insist in their opinion. The most knowledgeable in nanotechnology were:

  • Denis Trofimov – student of the 11th grade of Municipal Educational Institution “Lyceum No. 35” of Nizhnekamsk city;

  • Leysan Valieva – student of the 10th grade of Municipal Educational Institution “Gymnasium” of Bogatye Saby human settlement;

  • Kamila Trigulova – student of the 9th grade of Secondary School No.86 of Kazan city;

  • Damir Malikov – student of the 7th grade of Lyceum No.1 of Zelenodolsk city.

The winners in the category “Nano IQ” were awarded Diploma of Technopark “Idea” and high-tech gifts.

In addition, within the III Republican contest “Erudite-2011”, the students were represented activities of the Local Youth Social Organization “Kazan Club of Nanotechnology”, that was established at the initiative of KFU students in 2007. Anyone who wants to develop high technologies and nanotechnology in the Republic of Tatarstan in particular can become a member of the Club.
