“School of contemporary success” at Technopark “Idea”.

The Round table “School of Contemporary Success” was held at Technopark “Idea” and was coincided with the opening of the Youth Innovation Creativity Centre. The roundtable guests visited laboratories of the Nanotechnology Centre of the Republic of Tatarstan and attended the opening ceremony of the Youth Innovation Creativity Centre.    

The round table was organized by Technopark “Idea” with the participation of JSC “RUSNANO”. The organizers offered the participants to discuss the winning formula in business and small enterprises and determine the necessary “ingredients” of such a success. They also spoke of the innovation economy policy in general, the “thin point” in business and rules for the game.             

The discussion joined representatives of major republican infrastructure projects, such as Technopark “Idea”, Nanotechnology Centre of the Republic of Tatarstan, Technopolis “Himgrad”, representatives of relevant RT ministries and agencies, universities, representatives of JSC “RUSNANO”. The discussion session was attended by Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan Artem Zdunov, the creator and Director of Company “GCS” Ayrat Sabirov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Technopolis “Himgrad” Albert Karimov, Rector of KNRTU German Dyakonov, General Director of JSC “Tatneftechiminvest-holding” Rafinat Yarullin, General Director of Technology Transfer Centre Dmitry Pashin, Vice-President of OPORA RUSSIA Pavel Sigal, General Director of Company “HemaCore” Igor Pivovarov, President of RASA Association Boris Chichkov, Director of Cooperation Development of the Fund for Infrastructure and Educational Programs Leonid Gozman, Director of the Scientific and Technological Expertise Department of JSC “RUSNANO” Sergey Kalyuzhny.  

One of the matters of businessmen concernment was the investment and organizational interaction with JSC “RUSNANO”.   

Leonid Gozman sought to dispel fears regarding the state “rigidity” and foot dragging of JSC “RUSNANO” in terms of business. “RUSNANO went through a lot of efforts to stop being a state corporation – this is not efficient for the development institute”, - said Leonid Gozman. According to him, a clear evidence of “pay-back” of the Company - the fact that “RUSNANO” attracted 491. 7 billion RUB. of private money. "To attract assets of private investors is always difficult - private business is always afraid of new projects, he must be sure he earns a profit. In this sense, the fact that RUSNANO has managed to attract private funds shows that we are confided” Gozman said, the innovation - is, above all, the people, “it’s a personal relationship”.       

Enterpreneurs involved in the nanosphere had also an opportunity to express themselves at the roundtable discussion. In particular, General Director of Kazan Company “GCS” Ayrat Sabirov described the experience of his Company, which has grown at Technopark almost from one person to billion-dollars business. Responding to the question about the secret of his success, Sabirov said, that “there were who people believed in our development”, and “at that point our idea was of great need”. General Director of “HemaCore” Igor Pivovarov touched upon the aspect of “RUSNANO” engaging in the investment activity, pretending to such investment. The issue of independence of the business ownership by the previous owner was of primacy concern, however, Pivovarov compared this situation with the entry into the marriage bond: “It is always a certain limit, but also new opportunities”. In addition, the entrepreneur said that they did not have to make any “unacceptable conditions”, moreover, they managed to exclude one of the radically unfavourable items from the “RUSNANO” Agreement.                                 

In addition, Pivovarov noted that it is necessary to be psychologically ready for the investor’s interference in the business as the growth of the latter. “It is good, if there is someone to talk with…” – said Moscow businessman.   

Also the roundtable discussion involved the issues of universities’ developments and projects efficiency in the nanotechnology, as well as acquiring the necessary materials and components for research, especially from abroad. Rafinat Yarullin said that “sometimes it’s a real problem to bring some components to the university...”.

The proposal on introduction of additions to Tatarstan Programme of  stimulating the demand for innovative and nanotechnology products was the result of the discussion.
